The Col d’Aubisque is a mountain pass in the French Pyrenees that connects the city of Argeles Gazost to the east via the Col du Soulor with Laruns in the west. The Aubisque is another of the mountain passes that comprise the Circle of Death which refers to grueling Tour de France mountain stages that include the Peyresourde, Aspin, Tourmalet, and Aubisque passes. A typical Circle of Death route including all 4 passes from Luchon to Pau measures 200km (124 miles) in distance with over 5800m (19,000 feet) of climbing. The eastern approach from Argeles Gazost is 29.3 km (18.1 miles) long with an average gradient of 4.3% and includes the Col du Soulor at 1,474m (4,836 ft) followed by a short descent before climbing to the Aubisque pass, The western approach from Laruns is 16.6km (10.3 miles) with an average gradient of 7.2%. The Aubisque can also be approached from Pau to the north via the Col du Soulor.
