In her role as Sales and Events Director at Hotel Domestique, she works closely with guests to facilitate events from weddings to corporate and wellness retreats, and everything in between. When she is not curating epic experiences, Abbey utilizes her previous experience as a plant specialist to create and maintain the beautiful flower boxes and pots located around the hotel and restaurant. Abbey’s dedication to detail and open attitude makes her a wonderful addition to our team.

Haydn Shaak

Executive Chef
A graduate of the culinary program at Greenville Technical College, Chef Hadyn Shaak has spent almost his whole life working in kitchens. His father was also a chef, so cooking became a significant part of his life from an early age. At 16, he began an apprenticeship under his father at the Greenville restaurant City Range Steakhouse Grill.

Over the next five years, he worked his way through the kitchen ranks at different establishments ultimately earning his stripes as Executive Chef. He has since headed up several prominent restaurants in Greenville and Travelers Rest before taking over Restaurant 17 in 2018. Haydn’s focus on local and seasonal ingredients, along with his dedication to classical techniques has elevated the culinary program to new heights.

Danielle Nance

Director of Food and Beverage
Raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Danielle came to Greenville in 2005 to attend Furman University. Upon graduation in 2009, she returned to Philadelphia and began her restaurant career in earnest. After spending three years with Tío Juan’s Margaritas, developing a franchise-wide marketing plan and training developing managers, she once again set her eyes on the south.

Back in Greenville, Danielle worked for High Street Hospitality restaurant group before opening The Playwright Pub with Chef Adam Cooke. Danielle then was promoted to General Manager at The Green Room, which she led through multiple major renovations and a complete kitchen restructure. Danielle’s passions for food, spirits, and community continue to guide her in her journey and role as Director of Food and Beverage of Restaurant 17 and Hotel Domestique amongst our team.

Elizabeth Kinney

Assistant Director of Food and Beverage
Elizabeth brings over twenty years of restaurant and management experience to our team with Restaurant 17. She was raised in New Hampshire but studied Sculpture and Painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design. She has lived throughout the United States and Canada, but found her home in South Carolina.

Elizabeth is a professional artist and an expert in charcoals, with multiple large scale public murals. She is inspired by the sights and sounds of Restaurant 17 and Hotel Domestique’s natural settings. “This place inspires me, and I try to capture the flavor of our unique setting through my work.”

Chad Greenwood

Director of Cycling and Maintenance
A transplant from Syracuse, NY, Chad began his career in bicycle mechanics in Astoria, NY at a local shop while pursuing his passion for the arts. However, it was not until he moved down south, where he had the opportunity to work with some great folks from Greece and Columbia, that he was truly introduced to all things cycling repair

While art has remained a passion of Chad’s, he always fell back into a bike shop to pay the bills. After 5 different shops and 20 years of wrenching, Chad calls himself a “jack of some trades, with much more knowledge on bike repair than an air conditioner.” But do not let his modesty fool you, Chad is known not only as the Hotel Domestique resident Cycling Mechanic, but also the go-to expert for just about anything mechanical within our team.

Nick McSherry

Food and Beverage Manager
Born and raised in Connecticut, Nick brings over 15 years of Industry experience to his role and our team as the Food and Beverage Manager of Restaurant 17 and Hotel Domestique, including time spent at Eleven Madison Park (3 Star Michelin Restaurant) and The NoMad Hotel (James Beard Award Winner for Outstanding Bar Program).

Locally, Nick has led some of the top restaurants in Greenville, and in 2019 opened the wildly successful cocktail bar, Exile with co-owner Stephen Phillips. Nick’s fine dining experience and plethora of wine and spirit knowledge make him an invaluable asset to the Restaurant 17 and Hotel Domestique team. When Nick is not training, teaching, and leading, he spends his time with his wife and daughter and their two dogs.
