The Col d’Apsin is a mountain pass in the French Pyrenees that connects the city of Arreau to the east with the St. Marie de Campan to the west. The Aspin is one of the mountain passes that makes up the Circle of Death which refers to grueling Tour de France mountain stages that include the Peyresourde, Aspin, Tourmalet, and Aubisque passes. A typical Circle of Death route including all 4 passes from Luchon to Pau measures 200km (124 miles) in distance with over 5800m (19,000 feet) of climbing. The western ascent from St. Marie de Campan is 12.8km (8.0 miles) in length with an average gradient of 5%. The eastern approach from Arreau is over 12.0km (7.5 miles) long with an average gradient of 6.5%.
