Cody Rigsby Knows Why It's Hard Not to Love Greenville

Is the summer heat wearing you down? Well, take a break with Esquire's "In Transit." The travel series, presented by Very Local, features Esquire's very own Editor-at-Large, Dave Holmes, as he provides useful travel tips, visits local hotspots, and grabs drinks with some celebrity friends. Last week, restauranteur Ronnie Woo stopped by to teach us about Milwaukee's burgeoning vegan scene, as well as local tourist attractions, like the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame & Museum.

This episode, we're in Greenville, South Carolina, with celebrity fitness trainer Cody Rigsby. "It's all in the name," Rigsby says of Greenville. "It's very green and beautiful." Does he have a special travel tip? For Rigsby, it all comes down to snacks. "I don't like to be hungry," he says. The Peloton instructor will also, "bring bags of whey protein, which will sometimes alert the TSA and slow things down," he jokes. So, maybe pack with that info in mind as well.

Holmes also visits Soby's, a modern Southern restaurant in Downtown Greenville. Soby's serves him some shrimp and grits—and he visits for the bar for a Reedy Peach, a favorite gin and lemon drink in South Carolina. But that's all before showcasing Hotel Domestique, a taste of a European boutique getaway, located right in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. If you travel there yourself, just remember some snacks on the flight. (And, yeah—maybe leave the bag of whey protein behind.)
