A Festive Season: Join Us For The Holidays

Like many of you, we look forward to the Holidays each year in the Carolinas. Rich and I chose Greenville, SC and the Upstate region as our headquarters for many reasons: the beautiful setting, miles of scenic mountain roads, the vibrant lifestyle, a friendly community, and the year-round mild climate. This is our home. Each holiday season I’m reminded of how much this place means to me, and how welcoming everyone has made us feel. We are truly fortunate to be able to raise our children here, in this wonderful corner of the world. And we want you to share the joys of this season with us. We have a full December Calendar of fun events and dinners for you and your loved ones to celebrate as well.

The holidays come just once a year and that’s what makes them so special. Rich and I look forward to seeing you and sharing in the celebration.

Wednesday, 12/31: Ring in ’15 at 17

What an eventful year it has been. If 2015 is anything like 2014 then it promises to be full of close friends, good times, and lifelong memories. Wine Dinner with JP Bourgeois, December 4th

JP Bourgeois is a highly specialized wine importer focusing on small family estates, primarily from France and Spain. He works with farmers, not factories, that have been cultivating their lands for generation after generation; farmers who are preserving the culture and tradition of their region, of their Terroir. All of his wines are sustainably/organically farmed, and represent outstanding values in their categories.

On December 4th Chef Adam Cooke and JP Bourgeois will present a five-course dinner menu paired with handcrafted, organically farmed wines. Join us for a beautiful evening of fine food and French wine.

Bethel Trails Farm Dinner

At Restaurant 17 we make a point of partnering with local growers and farmers who share our philosophy on fresh, flavor forward ingredients. Tuesday, October 7, Chef Adam will be showcasing the offerings of one of our partners, Bethel Trails Farm, a family run, organic farm in nearby Gray Court, South Carolina.

Bethel Trails Farm is owned by the Ellis Family and operated as a sustainable farm specializing in pastured meat and poultry. New Lexus Celebrity Chef Dinner set for Friday, October 24th

We’re thrilled to announce a new a palate pleasing, taste tingling, sip and savor experience—the Lexus Celebrity Chef Dinner on Friday, October 24th. Mark your calendar to enjoy the culinary mastery of top food and wine personalities including Chefs Michael Chiarello, Adam Cooke, Matthew Accarrino and Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson, as well as Master Sommelier Bobby Stuckey.

From individual tasting stations each chef will present two dishes embodying their unique culinary style. Guests will move between stations, enjoying personal interactions with chefs and the chance to learn more about the distinct culinary approaches.

But it’s not all about food: four beverage venues will give guests the opportunity to sample and learn more about wine, beer and cocktails with Master Sommelier Bobby Stuckey joined by representatives from Patron tequila, New Belgian Brewing Company, Scarpetta Wine, and Flood Wines.

The Lexus Celebrity Chef Dinner coincides with our favorite annual ride, Gran Fondo Hincapie, but foodies need not worry—it’s open to everyone. Only 150 tickets are available priced at $250 per person or $400 per couple with proceeds benefiting Meals On Wheels Greenville.

Lexus has also signed on to be the official vehicle of the Gran Fondo Hincapie, adding a luxury element to our high-end event. You’ll see luxury support vehicles on the course and also sponsor the King of the Mountain competition.

Tuesdays at 17: Small Plates with Wine Pairings

When you have a Chef with the cooking pedigree and creativity of Chef Adam Cooke, each week is a delicious journey to showcase seasonal ideas based on fresh area ingredients. As summer wanes and fall approaches, Chef Adam is working closely with local growers and farmers to select the finest fruits, vegetables, and ingredients around. On Tuesday evenings, he will be featuring these ingredients in a series of small, elegant plates and pairing them with fine wines from around the world. Utilizing the oldest, most traditional cooking methods and combining them with innovative recipes and techniques, Chef Adam and his experienced team will create distinctive dishes that are at once subtle, savory, and eclectic—and that appeal to a wide-range of palates.

"My goal is to create plates that are my own interpretation of local regional dishes, just as George and Rich have made Hotel Domestique an extension of their international heritage and experience."

Each Tuesday night will be an altogether new experience as Adam prepares a sampling of delicious meats, cheeses, vegetables, and flavorful accents. Whether it’s an entrée or your main course, Tuesday will become one of your favorite nights of the week to dine out at Restaurant 17.

July: A Culinary Tour de France

We have a savory treat in store for diners this month. In honor of the month-long Tour de France, Chef Adam Cooke will be featuring the culinary delights specific to several regions featured in this year’s epic bike race. As the Tour traverses mile after mile of French towns and countryside, Restaurant 17 will be highlighting many dishes that have become distinct local favorites. Our culinary tour begins in the region of Rennes on July 1 and winds its way over hill and dale until concluding triumphantly in Paris on July 29. Chef Adam and his team have been hard at work finalizing the menu and, suffice it to say, this is one culinary tour in which you’ll want to make every tasty stage.

A taste of the Mediterranean

Mediterranean (especially Greek) cuisine has a rich history that dates back thousands of years. In fact, the Sicilian poet Archestratos is credited with writing the first cookbook around 320 B.C. Since then, the culinary evolution of Mediterranean cookery has undergone an explosion of cultural, geographical, and climactic influences that have made it as diverse and interesting as the people who created it. Chef Adam Cooke will take us on a scintillating tour of this vast culinary landscape, focusing on the following regions:
